NARAL PRO-CHOICE NEW HAMPSHIRE: JUDGE JOHN ROBERTS AN UNSUITABLE CHOICE FOR SUPREME COURT CHIEF JUSTICE
CONCORD, NH – NARAL Pro-Choice New Hampshire, the state’s leading advocate for personal privacy and a woman’s right to choose, has announced that it will join with NARAL Pro-Choice America to oppose Judge John Roberts, President Bush’s nominee for Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court. "John Roberts has disparaged the idea that privacy - the foundation of our right to choose - is a fundamental right; and he wrote in a legal brief that 'Roe was wrongly decided and should be overruled,'" stated Liza Dube, Political Director of NARAL Pro-Choice NH. "As Chief Justice, Roberts would have the power to determine cases heard by the court, and the authors of majority opinions with which he agrees. It is now more important than ever to have a clear understanding of Judge Roberts' record and legal philosophy. That is why we will continue to demand open, thorough hearings."
